Week of March 16th-19th

Please be vigilant about checking Blogger daily as this is going to be room 11's main source of information for posting assignments as we close due to the Coronavirus.  I am sending all of their books home today so the kids will have everything they need. There are 3 packets of reader, writers notebook skills for 3 weeks of work.  Ruby in Her Own Time is week 1, no new high frequency words for that story as we did them already. The Class Pet is week 2, and if needed Frog and Toad Together will be week 3. I will post work weekly and only have children do what is assigned. Notes from special teachers:
Music -  1. Students will watch the musical story “Because” with provided link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l79uMugy2no
2.    Parents/Guardians should discuss the following questions with their student after the video is over: What instruments did you see during the story? Why did the girl get to go to the concert? Who performed at the concert? Have you ever felt changed after listening to music? How does music make you feel? Do you know someone who felt different after listening to music?

Library - In place of checking out books from our school library, during this time of online learning, students can access books through the free website scholastic.com/learnathome which provides different paired fiction and non-fiction books each day, along with learning activities.  Just click on the tab for your child's grade level and the yellow box shows the username and password to use when logging in.  This should provide some fun reading/library time while children are at home. You can email me any questions at jbattista@simonandjude.org.

Computers - Have your child go on www.kidztype.com and practice their typing skills for 10 minutes. They know how to navigate the site and can pick up wherever they think they left off in class.

Update: Parents, please check in daily with a quick message telling me you are ready to work as I know all of you are doing! This is our way to document attendance for Option C. I love seeing pics of them working too because I miss their adorable faces and smiles!  I'm so proud of my class! I miss them more than you know!  We all need to make the best of this horrible situation and pray for healing! Please email me with any questions or concerns about their assignments. Stay in touch! The kids are welcome to email me too!
