Holy Week

Good morning children and parents! We have a short work week as we prepare for Easter.  Let's Zoom on Tuesday at 1:00! I miss your cute little faces! 

Enjoy your Easter break with your families and we will resume next Wednesday April 15th!


Monday
Math: pp. 546, 547, 548. Practice reading the time at home on your analog clocks!
We will start lesson 9.7 after Easter Break!

Religion:
Complete the pages in Holy Week section in the back of the Religion book pp. 342-347.

ELA:  Reading and writing in your 40 book challenge day!  Find a few books at home and spend the morning reading, writing and recording the title of your books in your 40 book challenge.  Write about your favorite part of your story. What part made you laugh? What did you learn about the characters in the story? Who was your favorite character?  Was there a problem in the story? How was it solved? These are the kinds of questions to ask yourself when you are getting ready to write about what you have read.

Tuesday
Today is catch up on assignments day! Were you able to make a video on Flipgrid last week?  Did you submit all work to me that has been assigned ? No new assignments will be given today! Regroup , review, read, and then relax!

Wednesday :  Retreat Day
Today is a quiet reflection day. This assignment is from The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and is recommended for the retreat today. 
  

TO THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS: You need to set up an account on FORMED.org
2. Type in "Faith at Home Philadelphia" in the search box; click it on when it appears.
3. Enter your information.
4.  Click “Sign Up”;
5. Access is given.
6. Type in Brother Francis in Search box. Click on “He is Risen.”

Assignment: Today you are going to watch a Brother Francis DVD called, He is Risen!
Brother Francis will tell you the story about Holy Week and why we celebrate Easter, the Resurrection of Jesus.
After you watch the DVD, do the activity.

Activity: You learned that Jesus is the Light of the World. He died and rose for us so now we can be the Light of Christ to others. We do this by praying and doing acts of kindness to others.
Think about ways that you can be the Light of Christ in your home.
Draw a picture that shows you being the Light of Christ.
Hang the picture on your refrigerator or in your room.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter  Please keep in mind that along with these assignments you are also strongly encouraged to: ~Go on first in Math ~Practice all sight words from the year ~Practice puzzles ~Go on educational websites - (abcya, startfall, brainpop junior) ~Get daily exercise outside with your family ~Read and write in your 40 book challenge Wednesday -  Religion - Complete pages 348, 349 and 350 (Easter - understand that God raised Jesus from the dead and gave him new life. Complete activity on page 348) Math - Begin Lesson 9.7 - Time to the half hour - Complete pages 549, 550, and 551 ELA - ~Fluency -Practice Reading with Expression page 149 in hardback reader ~Look at page 152 and 153 in hardback reader - Find 5 pictures that contain the vowel sound in turn. Say all of the sounds in one of the words. Now find something in this picture that rhymes with  twirl . Add the sound /z/ to the end of that word. Say the new word.

Week of May 11th-15th

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Mother's Day.  This week's plans will be a little different than previous weeks.  Our ELA activities will focus on animals since it would have been the week we attended our zoo trip.  Friday would have been our Spirit day, activities have been planned by student council - Please see the newsletter that was sent out last Thursday for games that your whole family can enjoy! A small animal project will be assigned this week and due by Friday on Flipgrid. The animal project will count for a Reading and Writing grade. Have fun and be creative!  There will be no new sight words for this week but please continue to practice all words from previous weeks.
