Room 11 News 19-20

Dear First grade parents,  This email will provide the classwork/homework for March 30 th  through April 3rd. Along with completing this work, please encourage your child to: ·        read for about 15 minutes each day and record it in their 40 book challenge(if students do not have 40 book challenge at home, they may record their readings on loose leaf and we will staple it in their book when we return) ·        work on flash cards containing math facts ·        spend time each day on first in math  ·        take a family nature walk outside and enjoy the fresh air ·        engage in puzzles  ·        work on unfinished work in their yellow WIP folder ·        go on educational websites such as abcya , starfall and brainpop junior ·  ...

Announcement: I am being proactive by providing you with your child's Readers, Writers, Notebook, and math workbooks for chapters 10-12. I also put 4 Scholastic magazines inside their RWN. We know most definitely that we will not be returning to school before Easter, so I left the books for you to pick up in the narthax of the church on the pew on the left right as you walk into church. The church will be open from 6:00 am- 9:00 pm. The books are in neat rows and labeled with names. Please keep the math books in a safe place at home in case we don't need them for home instruction. We do need the children to bring back all books to school. I would pick these books up in the next day or so . We were asked to go to school today and get what we needed in case our access to the building becomes limited in the days ahead. Thank you for being so patient during this unsettling, stressful time! Please be vigilant about checking Blogger daily as this is going to be room 11's main source of information for posting assignments as we close due to the Coronavirus.   I am sending all of their books home today so the kids will have everything they need. There are 3 packets of reader, writers notebook skills for 3 weeks of work.  Ruby in Her Own Time is week 1, no new high frequency words for that story as we did them already. The Class Pet is week 2, and if needed Frog and Toad Together will be week 3. I will post work weekly and only have children do what is assigned.
